Longleys Farm Campsite

Longleys Farm Campsite is part of a 180-acre organic farm, so it’s got all the peaceful atmosphere and rural views you could hope for – and yet it’s just a little over a mile from the centre of Hailsham.

This setting means you can easily walk into town for pubs, takeaways and restaurants, or to pick up supplies for meals back on site (picnics, barbecues or campfire cooking… take your pick). The farm is also just next to the 1066 Country walking trail, which you can follow to Pevensey village or across to Herstmonceux Castle.

The location is also on the edge of the Pevensey Levels Site of Special Scientific Interest, so the surroundings are teeming with wildlife. With that in mind, the farm uses organic farming methods that are intended to enhance the local ecology – and that certainly seems to be working, as surveys have found more than 45 different native bird species here (including several whose numbers are in serious decline).

And of course you’ll also spot the residents down at ground level: this is a working dairy farm where you’ll see the herd walk past the camping field every morning and evening. (Don’t forget that you’ll also need to be aware of various hazards when staying on a working farm.)

Facilities here include a brand-new modern toilet/shower block, a covered washing-up area and availability to have the farm produce delivered straight to your tent.
